42" Dia. Universal Expansion Joint Designed with Pantographic Linkage and Slotted Hinges for a Flue Gas Application
This 42″ dia., 118″ long universal expansion joint was designed with pantographic linkage and slotted hinges for flue gas application in a Columbian refinery. The redundant two-ply testable bellows are fabricated from Inconel 625 LCF and the remainder of the assembly was fabricated with refractory lined carbon steel. It is designed for an axial movement of 1.3″ at 1,000°F and 50 PSIG. All welds were 100% dye penetrant examined, the bellows longitudinal seam and pipe seams were 100% X-ray examined. The complete assembly was pneumatically tested to 50 PSIG.

US Bellows custom-designed eighty-one universal expansion joints for an oil refinery in California. The bellows are fabricated from 304 stainless steel, and the pipe and flanges are carbon steel. The units range from 1″ to 8″ in diameter and are designed for a spring rate of 20 lb./in. The expansion joints are designed for 140°F at 25 PSIG and are capable of 1″ axial compression. Each unit was hydro-tested prior to shipment.

US Bellows custom designed universal expansion joints for an oil refinery in the Philippines. The bellows and liner are fabricated from 304 stainless steel and the cover, tie rods, flanges and pipe spool are carbon steel. The sizes are 18″ dia. x 60.5″ long, 28″ dia. x 80.75″ and 36″ dia. x 40″ long. The units are designed with movement indicators and for 50 psig at 655°F. They are capable of 0.675″ compression, 0.375″ lateral and 1″ angular. The bellows and pipes were 100% x-rayed, PMI examined and hydro-tested

These single expansion joints are custom designed for an internal reactor in a propylene process unit. They are fabricated with Incoloy 800H bellows and A-240 type 304H stainless steel weld ends. The expansion joints range in diameter from 59-7/15″ to 78-8/8″ and are 41-5/16″ long. They were designed for a lateral movement of 0.25″, axial movement of 2.64″ and 15 psig at 1231°F. PMI, x-ray and dye penetration tests were performed prior to shipment.

Twenty-four single hinged expansion joint were custom designed for a chemical plant. Eight are 16″ dia., four are 12″ dia., twelve are 6″ dia., and they range in length from 14″ to 16″. The bellows are fabricated from 304 stainless steel and the rest is carbon steel. The 16″ dia. joints are designed for 2° angular movement at 300°F and 150 PSIG. The 12″ dia. joints are designed for 1 deg. Angular movement at 300°F and 400 PSIG. The 6″ dia. joints are designed for 1° angular movement at 300°F and 650 PSIG. All expansion joints were dye penetrant examined and hydro-tested prior to shipment

This 42″ dia. x 13-3/4″ OAL single expansion joint was refurbished for a chemical plant. The bellows were replaced with 304 stainless steel and the flanges were sand blasted and painted. The expansion joint was designed for a spring rate of 4,253 lb./in., 5/8″ axial movement at 222°F and 50 psig. A dye penetrant examination and air soap and bubble test was conducted prior to shipping.

Elbow Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint Designed for a Chemical Processing Plant

This elbow pressure balanced expansion joint was designed for a chemical processing plant to aid the nitrogen oxide process for compound fertilizers. It is 18″ diameter with a face of weld-end to centerline of elbow length of 83- 3/8″. The body of the assembly, the pipe, covers, and tie-rods was fabricated from 304L stainless steel, the bellows and liners from 321 stainless. This unit was designed for 1/2″ compression and 4-1/8″ lateral movement with an operating temperature of 600°F at 125 PSIG. The assembly was dye-penetrant tested and hydro-tested at 190 PSIG prior to shipment.

Fabric Expansion Joint Custom Designed for an Exhaust Application in a Gas Turbine Facility

This 153″ x 55″ x 21″ fabric expansion joint was custom designed for an exhaust application in a gas turbine facility overseas. It is fabricated from carbon steel with a painted frame and liner. The fabric belt is reinforced neoprene, and it’s designed for +/- 100″ water column with a temperature of -20°F to 600°F. A 100% dye-penetrant examination and paint thickness test was conducted on the assembly before being shipped.
