U.S. Bellows custom designed and fabricated this 90″ diameter radius long elbow duct assembly for an ammonia plant in Louisiana. The duct assembly shown here is being sent for painting before it is shipped. The assembly was fabricated from A-516 Gr. 70 carbon steel material and designed for 16 psig and full vacuum at 302°F. A 100% dye penetrant test, and spot x-ray test of all pipe circumferential and long seam welds was performed prior to shipment.

Tied Universal Expansion Joints Designed for a Nitrogen Plant
U.S. Bellows, Inc. designed and fabricated tied universal expansion joints with stainless steel flanges for a nitrogen plant in Arizona. They are 10″ and 14″ diameter and are 140-3/8″ and 168″ OAL. The bellows are fabricated from 321 stainless steel and the pipe is 304L stainless steel. The expansion joints were dye-penetrant examined and hydro-tested to ensure product quality.

These fabric expansion joints were fabricated from stainless steel pipe and flanges with a three layer fabric belt protected by an insulation pillow. Stainless steel covers were included to protect the fabric expansion element from possible outside damage.

A 100% dye-penetrant examination was performed prior to shipment.

U.S. Bellows custom-designed inline pressure balanced expansion joints for a pipeline in Texas. The bellows are fabricated from 316 stainless steel and the flanges and liners from carbon steel. The units have a 20″ diameter and are 30″ in overall length. The expansion joints were designed for 0.17″ compression with an operating temperature of 150°F at 285 psig. A dye penetrant test and pressure test at 300 PSIG was performed prior to shipment.

12″ Dia. Tied Universal Expansion Joint Designed for a Power Plant

US Bellows custom-designed this tied universal expansion joint for a power plant. The expansion joint is 12″ Dia. x 34 1/2″ OAL. The bellows are fabricated from Inconel 625 LCF and the tie rod ring attachments, pipe and tie rods are 316 stainless steel. It is designed for an axial movement of 1/2″, a lateral movement of 2 1/4″ at 1250°F and 120 PSIG. The bellows longitudinal seam was 100% x-rayed, all welds were dye penetrant-examined and the unit hydrotested prior to shipment.
84″ Dia. Refractory Lined Universal Expansion Joint Designed for an FCC Unit

US Bellows refurbished this double gimbal expansion joint for an oil refinery in Baytown, Texas. The bellows were replaced with Inconel 625 and the duct, elbow, cover, and liner are carbon steel. This unit has a diameter of 20″ and an overall length of 108″. The expansion joint was designed for 4″ lateral movement at 450°F and 180 psig. Prior to shipment, the unit was 100% dye penetrant tested, PMI examined, and hydrotested.
32″ Dia. Externally Pressurized Expansion Joint Designed for an Oil Refinery
US Bellows custom-designed this single externally pressurized expansion joint for an oil refinery in Saudi Arabia. The bellows are fabricated completely from 316 stainless steel. The expansion joint is 32″ in diameter and 61-1/4″ in length. It is designed for 8″ axial movement and 150 psig at 176°F, with a spring rate of 1096 lb./in. The unit had the stainless steel alloy material PMI examined. It was also dyed penetrant examined and hydro tested prior to shipment.
